YOUR VILLAGE TEMPLE
(Introduction, Situation, Description,
Organization, daily routine of worship, Festivals, Conclusion)
The village temple is the most sacred place. The villagers put
their utmost faith on the deity inside the temple.
There are three temples in my village. The temple of Lord Shiva
is situated at the bank of river Sona. The temple of Lord Jagannath is situated
at the middle of the village. The temple of Bajrangwali or Mahavir is situated
at the end of my village. The temples hold holy shrines. The temple of Lord
Shiva and Mahvir were founded by the famous king of Kaptipada. These two
temples are very ancient and age old. They are full of art, architecture and
full of sculptural beauty. These antique temples are made of stone and lime.
The temples of Lord Jagannath has been founded by the villagers. His highness
the Gajapati Maharaja inaugurated this temple.
Three trusts are made for the smooth maintenance of the temples.
Two priests and one attendant are appointed by the trust. Some people like
gardener, milk man get the lease of land to supply flower, milk etc. to the
temple. The priests prior the daily rites and rituals before the holy images. The
worship is the early morning and evening is very nice. Sounds made by the holy
carol by the brass bands are resounded in the whole area. Religious ladies and
gents, young and old alike attend to enjoy the function with full devotion.
Festivals are celebrated round the year. Many people, saints and
preachers come to the temples to deliver sermons. Main festivals like
Shivaratri, Bad Osha, Sri Ram Navamee, Car festival are celebrated with great
joy and pomp.
