INDIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY ESSAY
Introduction
The twenty-first century has started. In the last century we have seen a great deal of changes in the world. It is high time to think how India will fare in this century.
Position of India in the 21st century
India is likely to occupy an important position in the world in the new century. She will undoubtedly be the torch-bearer of Asia. Most of the countries of the world will try to have friendly relations with India. She will also have good relations with her neighbouring countries. Indo-pak relations will improve. There will be free trade and communication between India and Pakistan.
Border dispute
The border dispute with China and Pakistan will surely be solved in this century. A dispute is never likely to continue for 100 years. The LOC in Kashmir will be the permanent line of demarcation. It may take another 10 to 15 years to solve the issue. But there will be some kind of settlement. Similarly India and China will succeed in settling their border disputes in the coming century and both will have very good relations with each other. The new century will see India and China as good friends. In the same way India's relations with Nepal, Bhutan, Burma and Bangladesh will improve considerably.
Progress in scientific field
In the scientific field India will become the most advanced country in Asia. In this sphere she will overtake Japan. She will not need to borrow technical knowledge from any country of the world. She will make wonderful progress in space technology. She may send some scientists to the moon for exploration.
Progress in educational field
In this century India will be in the front in the educational field. Technical and vocational training will become an integral part of education. There will be fewer educated unemployed. The country will be free from illiteracy.
Social and cultural field
There will be great progress in the social and cultural field. There will be great development in the sphere of music, dance, painting and sculpture. Women will be more powerful. But the quota system will create strife in the society. The upper class youth will revolt against the quota system. Our short-sighted politicians will not be able to foresee the dangers ahead. In spite of all the progress, there will be no end to violence. When the meritorious will be deprived of employment due to the quota system, they will rise in revolt. With the increase of their numbers, the cases of caste-based violence will also increase.
Conclusion
Our constitution guarantees equal right to all. The politicians will always try to bend the rules to suit their needs. They will hanker after power and money. They would instigate violence for their own gains. Most of the politicians will be dishonest. They will even try to disobey the court's orders. This will create a strange situation. There may be violent strife. In order to avoid all these, the quota system must be abolished. The deserving youth must be given their due. Talent should be respected. The society must be free from unnecessary Govt. control. In this way only India can meet the challenge of the 21st century.
