Teacher is the preacher of the society. He builds the nations. By creating good and sensible citizens he uplifts the position of the nation to a high extent. The progress and prosperity of a nation depend on the teachers. An ideal teacher is a model of good conduct. He sets an example for others. But nobody thought of the teachers before Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the honbl'e Ex-president of India. He was an ideal teacher. So he dedicated his own birth day the 5th September to be observed as the Teacher's day all over the country. Since then every year the 5th, September is observed as the Teacher's Day.

.         A teacher works with a sense of devotion and dedication. He inspires his pupils to conduct themselves well in life. He prevents his pupils from going astray and keeping bad company. His character is spotless. Sins and vices do not touch him. Hence, if the teachers are neglected the country cannot prosper. On the Teacher's Day the nation gets a chance to think of the teachers. People and students pay homage to the local teachers in the public meeting. Government felicitates the worthy teachers of the nation on this day.

On the Teacher's Day the school work is held up. Students worship their teachers. First of all the students garland the portrait of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and then they sing prayer to the teachers and garland them. They express their gratitude to the teachers for their noble service to the nation. They contribute to the All India teacher's fund. The Teacher's Day is celebrated everywhere in India.'

The Teacher's Day is an important day for the whole nation. All should love and respect the teachers. The teachers should be awarded for their dutifulness and good conduct.
