MAHATMA GANDHI
Introduction:-  Mahatma Gandhi was popularly known as Bapujee. He was the father of our nation. Without any bloodshed he fought against the powerful British rulers and freed India from their clutches on 15th, August 1947.

Mahatma Gandhi
Birth and parentage:-  He was born on 2nd October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujrat. In his childhood he was known as Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi. His father was Kaba Gandhi who was the Dewan of Kathiaward in Rajkot. His mother Putuli Bai was a pious lady. He was very shy and timid in his childhood. He was led astray by some bad companions. Even he had stolen and told lie. He understood his fault and soon corrected himself. He took stern oaths not to be a strayed again.
Education:-  He was not a very good student. Any how he passed his matriculation and could not continue his studies at college. He was sent to England to study Law and became a barrister. While he was staying in London he was free from wine and women. He married to Kasturaba at the age of thirteen. Kasturba was a devoted lady. She sacrificed her life for the poor and needy people.
Service to the mankind:-  As an ardent lover of truth Gandhijee could not continue his legal practice in Kathiaward. He went to South Africa being appointed as the legal adviser of an Indian mercantile firm. He found the Indians suffering there miserably and living wretchedly. They were tortured by the British rulers and landlords.
Struggle for freedom:- His experiment with truth and now violence:-  Gandhijee organized the Indians together and fought against the inhuman treatment of the Britishers.
He had to suffer imprisonment and physical torture. But in the long run he succeeded and freed the Indians in South Africa.
The great-Indian:-  He returned back to India and took the leadership to fight against the cruel British rulers. He started his nonviolent struggle for freedom of India. All the Indians from Kashmir to Kanyakumari followed him and accepted him as their leaders. Nehru, Patel, Subhas, Lal-Bal-Pal and other national leaders supported him in various struggles like Swadeshi and Boycott movement, Salt Satyagraha, non-cooperation and civil disobedience movement, Bande Mataram and quit India movement. He suffered imprisonment so many times. At last, India got its freedom on 15th, August 1947. He dreamt of Rama Rajya in India. But it a matter of profound regret that a Hindu named Nathuram Godse killed him in the evening of 30th January 1948.
Conclusion:-  Gandhijee was a god-like person. He sacrificed his life for truth and non-violence. He was a true lover of mankind. He was an unchalllenged leader and a humanist. His death was a great loss to India.
