Introduction:-  Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the great national hero of India. He was loved and worshipped by the people. He was the first Prime Minister of free India. He was the Meader of mankind and a great lover of peace and nonviolence. He loved children very much. The children called him as Chacha Nehru.
Birth and parentage:-  He was born on 14th, November 1889. His father Motilal Nehru was a famous lawyer. His mother was Swaruparani. She was a pious lady. He was named as Jawahar which means the precious gem. He was brought up in the midst of plenty. Jawaharlal was not sent to any school at first. A private tutor taught him at home till he was fifteen. Then he was sent to England. He finished his school education at Harrow and studied at Cambridge University.
Education:-  He became a barrister of law and came back to India. At first he started practice law in Allahabad. He was not happy with this profession. He joined the Congress and became an ardent disciple of Mahatma Gandhi who was fighting for the freedom of Indians. The national movement led by Mahatma Gandhi stirred his heart. At last India became free on 15th, August 1947. Nehru became the first Prime Minister of Independent India.
His position in:-  He promised to wipe tears and bring smiles to the faces of suffering Indians. He made plans for eradication of poverty and illiteracy and to make India into an ideal democratic republic.
Involvement in freedom movement:-  He was a popular national leader with a sparkling personality. His progressive outlook, dynamic spirit, sacrifice and dedication placed him in the highest estimation of people. He was well known as an international leader. His heart was big with love for his countrymen. People loved and respected him. He sacrificed his birthday to be observed as the children's day.
His o dedications and commitments:-  He was a great lover of peace. His principles of 'Panchasheel' and peaceful co-existence received warm admiration from all countries in the world.
Conclusion:-  He passed away on 27th May, 1964. His death was an irreparable loss to the whole world. He will be remembered for ever.
