Introduction:-  The place where trains halt is known as a station. There are a lot of Railway stations through out India. All are not of equal size. Some are very big and some are small. Big stations are situated in Railway junctions, big towns and individual areas.
A row of buildings, waiting rooms, police station, mail service, restaurants, book stalls, platforms, over bridges, signal posts are the special features of a big station.

Special features:-  Generally there are the Station Master's office, the Assistant Station Master's office, enquiry office, office of the goods clerk, booking office, reservation centre, office of the time keeper, waiting rooms, police station, restaurants, book stalls in a railway station. There are two waiting rooms for the passengers. One in for general and the other is meant for the higher classes. There are more than one platforms in big stations. There are signal posts at the two ends of the railway station. These posts control the trains by their red, yellow and blue lights.
Description:-  At the time of arrival and departure of trains the bells ring. The railway station provides licensed coolies and hawkers for the convenience of the passengers. Residential Quarters of the Railway employees are built near the stations. There are club houses, lawns, parks, market complex, play grounds, health unit and schools for the railway employees.
Conclusion:-  The passengers as well as railway employees should always try to keep the station clean. They should maintain proper discipline.
