ROAD SAFETY
Introduction:- Road safety means safety of the people on the
road. It is matter regret that there is no much traffic on our country roads.
There is heavy traffic on main roads, national high ways and the streets of
towns and cities. It causes a deep concern for all of us.
Road accidents:- The roads and streets of our country are not
safe now-a-days. Streams of buses, cars, lorries and other vehicles run at top
speed. Street accidents occur very frequently. Accidents have become very
common. Everyday hundreds of people die in street accidents. Trucks, buses,
taxis or cars dash against one another. Sometimes the vehicles run over the
pedestrians. Most, axxidentstake place on account of rash driving. Some drivers are not trained properly. Very often they are in a drunken state. Most of our people are ignorant of the rules of the road.
Safety of life:- People are always in a hurry and they cross a
street without looking carefully. They don't pay any heed to the road side
slogans as "Better late than never or it is better to lose a second then
to lose a life." The desire to reach the destination early urges drives to
overtake the fast moving vehicles. Sometimes they fail to judge the speed of
the vehicles and meet with accidents. To have safety on the roads the drivers
should be careful in driving. They should drive at a controlled speed. They
should not drink at the time of driving any vehicle. Traffic rules should be
strictly implemented. One who violets the rules should be punished immediately.
Rules of the road:- The vehicles should not
be allowed to exceed the prescribed speed limit. Each and every vehicle should
be checked from time to time by mechanical experts. The narrow roads should be
made wider. A civic sense should be developed among the people. They must be
taught the night use of roads and vehicles. Boys should be prohibited to fly
kites in the streets.
Conclusion:- All people should obey the rules of the road for safety of their
lives. They should keep to the left. The drivers should follow the instructions
of the traffic police or light signals. Government should prevent road
accidents and provide safety to the lives of people on the road.
